PRISHTINA, 27 MAY 2009 - The Kosovo Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) and the Ombudsperson, signed on Wednesday (today) a memorandum of understanding on exchange of information that serve these mechanisms to strengthen joint efforts in accordance with respective mandates, in order to ensure a more effective fight of corruption phenomena and protection of human rights and freedoms.
This agreement which is signed by the ACA Director Mr. Hasan Preteni and the Acting Ombudsperson Mr. Hilmi Jashari will contribute to ensuring an effective cooperation between these two institutions to exchange information on issues that fall into the mandate of both these mechanisms.
Based on this cooperation agreement the Ombudsperson is committed to send to ACA complaints received from citizens regarding allegations of corrupt actions, and the ACA conform to its mandate, will take action to investigate reported cases by citizens to the Ombudsperson which the latter forwards to the ACA.
ACA and Ombudsperson are obliged to keep information and treat it as confidential in accordance with the law until the completion of investigations.
The parties shall execute this agreement in good faith and all of them will agree on the fact that the provisions of this Agreement shall be interpreted in a way that favours the full implementation of the mandate of the two institutions and not adversely affect their work.
