EXPIRY OF DEADLINE FOR THE DECLARATION OF PROPERTY FOR YEAR 2009

PRISHTINA – 8 April 2009 - The legal deadline for declaration of property by senior public officials of institutions of the Republic of Kosovo as provided by Anti-Corruption Law (ACL) ended on 31 March 2009.

Number of senior officials who have had the obligation to declare their property in 2009 was 800, where the number of 619 or 78.8% of them has declared the property, while 173 is the number of officials who have not declared the property, 8 others were senior officials relieved from duty and carry no liability for declaration of property.

Among the officials who have declared property are the main leaders of the Republic of Kosovo institutions as President of the Republic, Prime Minister, Speaker of the Assembly, two Deputy/PMs. While in the level of ministers their property have declared ten ministers from the 17 which are in the government of the Republic of Kosovo.

Before the start of March were distributed forms for property declaration whereas ACA officials have held training sessions with persons who were contact points between the ACA and the concerned institution (one from all public institutions) so that they have an easier time in filling in the forms.

Anti-Corruption Agency urged all those senior officials who conform to the law are obliged to declare their property to respect the legal framework and to declare their property within the deadline of 30 April 2009.

On the contrary, ACA will require institutions where they work to take administrative measures in accordance with the Anti-Corruption Law, as well as the fact that ACA would be forced to publish their names.
