FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION IS SUCCESSFUL ONLY IF THERE IS COOPERATION AMONG ALL THE INSTITUTIONS

PRISHTINA, 26 February 2008 - Director of Anti-Corruption Agency Mr. Hasan Preteni attended the two day regional conference (25 and 26 February 2008) that was held in Tirana, Albania, where he discussed opportunities for increasing efficiency in the fight against corruption in the public administration.
The topic of discussion at this conference was "Strengthening institutional cooperation to increase research capacity in the control of the declaration of assets and the prevention of conflict of interest" and was attended by representatives of several countries from the Balkan region, including Kosovo.
A speech for encouraging the conference participants to combat corruption was given by the President of Albania, Bamir Topi.
The fight against corruption will be successful only if there is cooperation between all public institutions. Identifying conflicts of interest and concealed assets cannot be performed only by a single institution but by the interaction of all factors of social policy aimed primarily at achieving European standards.
These were two of the most important conclusions drawn from this conference which was organized by the High Inspectorate of Declaration and Audit of Assets (HIDAA) with the support of the president, Mr. Bamir Topi.
